Posted: Sat Jun 21, 2008 11:42 pm Post subject: Terms of Notice
If your account has been given notice of rule violation, all of the following will occure.
Firstly, you will be sent an email as well as a private message describing the rule that was broken and requesting your attention to the matter. Most accounts that are put on notice will be due to violations such as listing an invalid email in your registry here at Infohub, so if you do not recieve the "Notice" email, then you have only yourself to blame.
Shortly after notification has been sent out, your profile will be changed to reflect the current status. Specifically your location and User Title will be switched to "On Notice" or "On Notice for [rule violation]"
This is done in case you don't recieve the notification email or check the private message. This is really an act of curtousy because it operates on the hope that you might log in and see that you are On Notice.
With all of the aforementioned actions taken, a countdown to punishment begins. Dependant on the level of the violation, you will recieve a pre-determined ammount of days to respond. If you fail to do so one or more of the following actions may be taken against you:
Account Ban - This means your Username and Password will become perminantly locked out of Infohub-forums.com and you will forever be unable to log in using them.
Account Suspension1 - This means that your Username will be unable to log in to Infohub for a predetermined ammount of time.
Account Suspension2 - This means that I will manually change your password to something that you do not know and after you suspension is lifted, you will be required to create a new password.
Account Deletion* - This means your Username and Password will be perminately deleted from the system.
IP Ban - No one from your computer will be able to log-in to infohub or create accounts with us.
*All punishments, with the exception of Account Deletion, are subject to appeal. Whether or not your appeal is granted depends on the authority reviewing your appeal (namely myself or another staff member) as well as your original violation. _________________
Ah, Signature Changes...
Most users have their Subnet Mask, or IP Mask change every day, although this setting is up to the Internet Provider the user signs up with.
Their primary IP (ISP) does not change. Granted, there are some advanced computer users who, such as myself, change their primary IP manually in order to maintain security or to avoid tracing.
So, while an IP ban may not be enough to keep an advanced computer hacker away, it will surfice for 98% of users.
And, in the off chance that a hacker should attempt to defy an IP ban, or gain access to the Infohub-forums database (the one containing everyone's posts, email addresses, and even passwords) then they will be stopped dead in their tracks by security measures which I won't explain further (the more you know, the easier things are to bypass).
But I will say this much:
ANY USER WHO ATTEMPTS ILLEGAL ACCESS OF THIS SITE, OR ANY RESTRICTED DATA OR AREAS THEREOF, WILL FIND THEMSELVES WISHING THEY HADN'T. _________________
