This process will remove the 1 hour time limit from over 600 Games available at:
Code:
http://www.realarcade.com/
As well as removing the time limit, it will automatically upgrade your game from the trial to the full version, unlocking all the features, completely free of charge!
First, go into the control panel. From there, go into appearance and thems, and then folder options. Once in the folder options go into the view tab, then go down to hidden files and folders and make sure you have the show hidden files and folders box checked. Click apply, then ok.
Now you'll need to download the Realarcade manager in order to create an account and download games. Don't worry, I use it myself, there is nothing harmful.
Get it from:
Code:
http://www.realarcade.com/
The installation will begin automatically after the download of the manager is completed.
Now you need to choose a game. Any game you like. Just download the demo and start playing. After playing for about a minute, alt and tab out of the game. This doesn't close it, it just minimises it.
Next you need to go into your C drive, then into my games, and into the folder for the game you downloaded. Once inside that folder you will see two icons that look the same, but one will be very light and the other very dark. These are the game icons, to play the game. Choose the lighter one. Right click on it and go into properties. Check the read only box and uncheck the hidden box.
Press ok. Now right click on the lighter icon (which will now be dark, since you changed it to read only) again and make a shortcut to the desktop.
Here you must close the game, the Realarcade manager and any other windows you happen to have open. Make sure you close everything.
Now you can use the shortcut you put on your desktop and have fun. If you like, you can move the shortcut anywhere and it will still work. Do not copy and paste the file to a folder, or move it from its folder, you have to make a shortcut.
Once you have set up and are running the game, you do not have to use the show hidden files box again. Every time you download a trial game, just change the light icon to read only and make a shortcut on the desktop. Make sure you are playing the game as you do this, or the light icon will not appear.
If you deem it necessary, you can transfer the games to another computer without downloading the Realarcade manager to it. Here is how it works. Copy all of the following onto a USB drive:
Go into your C drive and then into my games. Copy the game folder you want to transfer.
Go into program files and copy the real folder.
Once both of those folders are on the USB drive, you can either play straight from the drive or put both folders in the relevant locations of the new computer.
If you want to share full games with the rest of the internet, just make a folder with the name of the game, then put the game and real folders into the new folder. Archive it, and upload it to your preferred file hosting service as normal.
Make sure you include instructions as to what whoever downloads the game must do. Give directions on where to put all the folders, because once activated by you, there is no option to automatically install the game.
Your best bet is simply to copy and paste this tutorial into a readme file, and include that with the download.

This process also works with some other trial games. Take a look around, see what works and what doesn't!

Absolutely awesome. I had no idea that this sort of thing was out there, but I always wanted there to be some way of getting those games for free. Thanks for the submission, good find.
By the way, I've moved this to Guides & Tutorials since the Knowledge base is meant more for Infohub-related Q&A. _________________
